The criteria to obtain this widely recognised and highly regarded independent accreditation are among the most stringent product emissions standards in the world. GREENGUARD Certification has established performance-based standards to define products and processes with low chemical emissions for use indoors. The standards are primarily for building materials, interior finishes and furnishings, furniture, cleaning products and electronic equipment.

Alberto Uggetti, vice president and general manager, UL Environment, comments: "UL encourages companies to test new technologies for health attributes and this is especially important in sensitive environments such as hospitals, schools and other public places. For this reason, we congratulate Canon on its technologies that achieve sustainability certifications, such as GREENGUARD Certification."

The diversification of many Canon wide-format customers into décor applications underlines the importance of having independent validation of the chemical emissions of its inks, providing signage and graphics producers and their customers with high confidence of their suitability.

Océ UV inks for the Arizona series of wide-format inkjet printers are low odour, low emission inks that produce vibrant, high quality imagery and are ideal for use with a large variety of media types, including the range of rigid substrates required to fulfil many printed interior décor briefs.

Canon UVgel ink is part of the unique technology innovation behind the recently launched Océ Colorado 1640 64” roll-to-roll printer. The new printer is designed to excel at a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications for use in many different environments, with excellent colour gamut and output quality ideal for high quality indoor settings. Safety certification is essential to enable print service providers to confidently promote and produce Canon UVgel prints for sensitive indoor applications such as wall coverings and interior signage.

Mark Lawn, Director, Graphic & Communications Group, Canon Europe comments: "GREENGUARD Certification demonstrates Canon’s commitment to developing products that enable customers to expand their applications capabilities. It is important for our wide-format customers to know that we work persistently, both internally and with partners, to have these inks tested and recognised for their low emissions."
