Accessibility at Canon

Canon’s commitment to accessibility

Canon Europe is committed to making our websites, apps and digital services as accessible as possible. Our aim is to combine compelling user experiences with high levels of accessibility and inclusivity, so everyone can use our digital services, whatever their abilities or disabilities. This is part of our dedication to seeing all people, regardless of culture, customs, language or race, living and working together for the common good – this is our corporate philosophy of kyosei, a deeply held belief which is at the heart of everything we do. Our ongoing site development, app development and content creation is guided by best-practice accessibility guidelines such as WCAG 2.1 and ISO 30071-1.

Adapt your experience to your needs

While this site has been created to be usable ‘as is’, some people are likely to get the most accessible experience by customising their computer to suit their individual needs – for example: to get the site spoken to them, to change its colour-scheme, or increase the size of its text.

If that sounds like it would be useful to you, we recommend you visit:

WAI’s Better Web Browsing: Tips for Customizing your Computer to read or watch videos of how these customisations (achieved by using accessibility features already on your computer, phone or tablet, or through installing assistive technologies) might suit you.

Improving accessibility on our site

Through an expert accessibility audit and user-testing of our site with people with disabilities, we are aware that there are accessibility improvements that our site could benefit from, and we have a plan in place to implement these. We are currently working to fix the following issues:

  • We are correcting alternative text on images to ensure decorative and functional images are described appropriately.
  • We are improving headings, lists, and tables so that page structure is clear and logical.
  • We are fixing issues where informative content is hidden or off-screen elements are read by screen readers.
  • We are enabling autocomplete for common form fields and improving focus for keyboard users.
  • We are increasing colour contrast for text and icons to make content easier to read.
  • We are ensuring modals, animations, and interactive elements such as sliders, menus, and buttons work properly for screen reader users.
  • We are clarifying when links open new windows and reducing duplicate links.
  • We are defining language changes correctly and resolving code and parsing errors.
  • We are making sure any page updates are announced clearly to screen readers.

If any of these current limitations prevent you from getting the information or service you need from our site, please contact us on accessibility@canon-europe.com and we will be happy to help you.

Please let us know if you have difficulties using this site

To help us understand your difficulty quickly, it would help us if you provide the information advised in ‘Contacting Organisations about Inaccessible Websites’ in your request.

All constructive feedback regarding the accessibility or usability of our site is welcome and will be carefully considered.
