DÜSSELDORF , 31 May 2016 – Canon, world leader in imaging solutions, is presenting Voyager, a new Prototype Inkjet Photo Press, on its stand at drupa 2016 (Messe Düsseldorf, 31 May – 10 June 2016).

Based on newly developed Canon inkjet technology, the seven-colour prototype B2+ duplex press harnesses Canon’s deep heritage in imaging and sets out to push the technical boundaries of inkjet to a new level of quality.

Live presentations of Voyager are taking place at hourly intervals on the Canon stand at drupa (Hall 8a, Stand B50). A range of samples are being displayed to illustrate the outstanding photographic output quality on a range of different substrates, including standard offset media.

Canon expects Voyager to be of interest to print service providers producing high added-value applications, such as catalogues, brochures, marketing materials and customer publications for luxury brands, real estate, food and travel where the quality of image reproduction is paramount. With its high gloss, photo quality output, Voyager could also lend itself to the production of classic photographic applications such as premium quality photo books, single photos and commemorative prints.

“Visitors to the Canon stand who see the Voyager samples will be amazed at the quality of output achievable from this prototype inkjet production print engine”, comments Executive Vice President at Canon Europe, Jeppe Frandsen.

“What they’ll see is Canon’s technical capability to deliver the exceptional print quality that consumers expect from a photographic print, but at industrial production levels. This demonstrates the future scope for an array of high quality applications to be produced using inkjet technology, effectively redrawing the technical boundaries of inkjet, and challenging all prevailing perceptions of the capabilities of digital print.”

Voyager is a prototype and is not commercially available.
