This spring, the new Canon Customer Experience Center in Venlo in the Netherlands, which was opened late last year by Mr Mitarai, Chairman and CEO of Canon Inc., played host to a series of popular customer days under the banner of “cutting-edge cut sheet”. Attracting an audience of over 700 print service providers, which far exceeded expectations, the event gave customers from across Europe a unique opportunity to find out what Canon can offer both as a technology innovator and a business partner, with a particular focus on Canon’s two new flagship cut sheet production presses – the inkjet-based VarioPrint i300 and the toner-based imagePRESS C10000VP.
Each day began with a plenary session, during which senior Canon executives gave insights into the company’s latest business and technology innovations. Attendees were then able to join small groups and select from a series of educational ‘clinics’, including a factory tour to see either the VarioPrint i300 or VarioPrint 6000 press being built and in depth technology sessions around both toner and inkjet. Other sessions more focused around the imagePRESS, VarioPrint and wide format Arizona product groups also included presentations from customers about how the Canon solutions have enabled them to take advantage of new business opportunities. Delegates were able to learn more about Canon’s Essential Business Builder Program and even had the chance to experience a Canon service training session for the VarioPrint i300 delivered via Canon’s own augmented reality technology.
Feedback from customers who attended the event was resoundingly positive. Not only did they enjoy the informal nature of the environment, but they also really appreciated Canon’s openness in discussing its cut sheet solutions, the opportunity to understand the technology underpinning each solution and the fact that they had a relatively unlimited time for conversations ahead of drupa 2016 both with Canon and with their industry peers.
